Topic and proposal help

A weak topic causes problems long before you get to chapter one. Supervisors reject it, or worse, approve it, and you find out three chapters in that it can't actually be researched properly. This is help getting the topic right first, then writing a proposal that gets approved without three rounds of back-and-forth.

Common questions

Questions students ask

My supervisor already rejected two of my topics. Can you help?
Yes, and it helps to know why they were rejected, if your supervisor gave a reason. Sometimes it's the topic itself, sometimes it's how the problem statement was framed. Both get looked at before suggesting a new direction.
What makes a topic 'good' versus 'bad'?
A good topic is specific enough to actually research within your timeframe, has enough existing literature to build on without being so covered that there's nothing new to say, and matches methods you can realistically carry out: surveys you can actually distribute, data you can actually access.
Do you write the full proposal, or just suggest the topic?
Both, depending on what you need. Some students just want topic ideas and take it from there themselves. Others want the full proposal document (problem statement, objectives, scope, and methodology outline) ready to submit for approval.
How long does topic approval usually take?
That depends on your department's own process, not on this service. Some approve within a week, others take longer. What this service controls is making sure the topic and proposal are strong enough not to bounce back for revision.
